Nanjing Agricultural University and Green World International Group Signed Scientific Research Cooperation Agreement

On January 25, 2025, Nanjing Agricultural University and Green World International Group signed a pivotal scientific research cooperation agreement, which aims to improve the germination rate of coffee seeds and increase the survival rate of coffee cuttings in Uganda. The ultimate is to select and cultivate high-yield coffee varieties that are well-adapted to local growing conditions, fostering the growth and prosperity of Uganda’s coffee industry.
Additionally, Green World International Group will establish a coffee seed station in Uganda, which will provide high-quality, high-yield coffee seeds and advanced coffee planting techniques to other coffee-growing countries in the African equatorial region, making a meaningful contribution to the development of Africa's coffee industry.

 


The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Hongsheng Zhang and Prof. Ji Huang from Nanjing Agricultural University, Prof. Deming Li, President of Green World International Group and Honorary Professor for the collaborative project, and Ms. Qiaoying Liu, Executive Deputy Manager of Green World International Group Nanjing Production Base. Through this cooperation, both sides aim to enhance the yield and quality of Ugandan coffee, create greater economic benefits for local farmers, and bolster Uganda’s competitiveness in the global coffee market.

To ensure the successful execution of the project,  Prof. Deming Li has been appointed as a part-time professor of Nanjing Agricultural University and an external tutor for graduate students involved in the project. Prof. Deming Li will personally mentor the two graduate students and participate in all stages of the project to ensure that the research aligns with both scientificity and practicability. Her involvement will bring valuable industry experience and expertise to the project, elevating the research’s overall quality and practical impact.
During the signing ceremony, participants expressed confidence in and high expectations for the prospect for collaboration. They firmly believe that through joint efforts and close coordination, this scientific research cooperation will serve as a powerful catalyst for transformation and sustainable development in Uganda’s coffee industry. This cooperation will not only strengthen the interaction between academia and industry but also inject new energy into Uganda’s agricultural development, contributing to the sustainable development for local economy.
