News about Kenya Branch Donating Products to Local Red Cross

On March 9th, 2011, a very severe fire occurred in Parkland district, Nairobi, capital of Kenya. In this disaster, over 1250 houses were destroyed and more than 4500 people became homeless and wander on the streets including approximately 1200 women and 1000 children. 

On March 10th, when Green World Kenya Branch got this sad news from news report, General Manager Mr. Mars Du called the management team to hold an emergency meeting immediately and discussed the ways and means to help the victims. Through discussion, everyone unanimously thought that: in past three years, Green World Kenya Branch cannot grow so greatly without the support from Kenyan people. Now Kenyan people are in trouble, our branch is supposed to lend a helping hand and help them out of trouble. After this meeting, Patrick, the administrative director, immediately contacted with Kenyan Red Cross which is responsible for helping the victims in this disaster and discussed the specific details to help victims. According to different groups of victims, our branch found corresponding products for them to help them get through the difficulties. 

For women victims, our branch prepared sanitary cushion products in value of over 1.70 million shillings; for children victims, protein powder in value of over 1.50 million shillings; for other groups of victims, compound marrow products in value of over 2.83 million shillings. Meanwhile, our branch also prepared 10,000 shillings cash to help those victims severely afflicted by this disaster on site.

At 10 o 'clock on the morning of March 12th, more than 10 staffs of the branch company and more than 30 distributors filled a truck with donated products of the company, then everyone got on the bus and ride to the disaster area.

At about half past 10 o¡¯clock, the company's cars arrived at fire site. After getting off the car, distributors began to actively help people in the disaster area solve problems, some of them were busy helping people carry building materials, some were helping maintain the orders in the area, and some others were explaining the suggested usage of the donated products.

General Manager, Mr. Mars Du was very concerned with the sufferings of the people in disaster area. After getting off, the first thing he has done was finding relevant personnel of The Red Cross to ask for entering the shelter to comfort the people in disaster area.

After coming out from the disaster area, General Manger, Mr. Mars Du together with District Mayor of Parkland and the chairman of The Red Cross in Kenya discussed the usage of the
donated products and the details of distribution, etc.

There were many victims all around, they were ragged and their expressions were full of expectations. General Manger, Mr. Mars Du personally took out some donations and distributed them to everyone. He also encouraged everyone to unite together to overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes as soon as possible.

Finally, General Manger, Mr. Mars Du accepted the exclusive interviews of the reporters from television stations such as GBS, KBC and K24 and some newspapers such as Nation, People, etc. In the interview, General Manger, Mr. Mars Du expressed deep concern to the victims, and called for more enterprises to join in helping people in disaster area.

At that night, the donation activity of branch company was specially reported by GBS television station, which lasted for 20 minutes, meanwhile, it was also reported in the program of The Evening News by KBC television station, which lasted for more than 2 minutes. On March 15th, People, as one of the four most popular newspapers in Kenya, reported this activity in full-page. In addition, some other newspapers will report this donation activity in the next few days.
