During a visit to the pilot production workshop in Academician Qirong Shen’s laboratory, Prof. Qirong Shen introduced the latest research advancements in solid bio-fertilizers. The main product in the workshop—Trichoderma-based microbial fertilizer—was developed through collaborative research led by Academician Qirong Shen and has already been empirically applied in a variety of commercial crops, including radish, coffee, tobacco, and cocoa. They conducted a lively discussion on the prospects of promoting Trichoderma fertilizers across African markets.

At the seed laboratory led by Prof. Hongsheng Zhang, the technical team comprehensively presented the application of intelligent monitoring system to Prof. Deming Li. Based on the construction experience of Green World International Uganda seed station, the system has been tailored to suit African climate conditions. A live demonstration showed the system’s real-time monitoring capabilities, capturing key parameters such as seed germination under the high temperature and humidity conditions, and root system architecture, providing essential data for seed variety optimization.

In the tobacco germplasm research section, they had in-depth discussions on quality-improvement technologies for high value-added commercial crops, focusing on germplasm selection, combined application of bio-fertilizer, and collaborative optimization path on processing techniques.

Following the field visit, they convened a preparatory meeting for the 2026 China-Africa Organic Fertilizer International Conference, with the content covering agenda framework, invitations to global experts, number of participant, and plans for technology transfer and implementation, which laid a solid foundation for the successful convening of the upcoming international conference.
