Green World International Group Executives Attended China-Uganda Agricultural Cooperation Events, Witnessing Dual Breakthroughs in Education and Research

■ Witnessing the Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Agricultural Talent Development Between Leading Chinese and Ugandan Universities
On the morning of July 29th, 2025, Prof. Deming Li, President of Green World International Group, and Mr. David L. Zhang, Vice President of Green World International Group and President of Green World Africa Region, were invited to witness the signing of an MoU between Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU), represented by Prof. Yan Zhu, Vice President of NAU, and Makerere University, represented by Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, Vice Chancellor of Makerere University. Green World executives also participated in subsequent discussions.

As a long-time contributor to China-Uganda agricultural cooperation, Green World International Group, together with delegations from the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS) and NAU, visited Makerere University to conduct in-depth discussions on agricultural technology promotion, R&D cooperation, and talent training. Prof. Deming Li and Mr. David L. Zhang jointly witnessed the signing of the MoU between NAU and Makerere University, which established a framework for collaboration in academic exchange, joint research, and talent training.

Prof. Deming Li remarked that Green World International Group has consistently supported agricultural modernization development in Uganda, and the partnership between the two universities will further promote the sharing of technologies and talent development between China and Uganda. She stated that Green World would continue to serve as a strategic bridge to facilitate the implementation of practical cooperation projects that support Uganda’s agricultural transformation.
Additionally, Mr. David L. Zhang introduced the development plan for the Green World Uganda Modern Agricultural Cooperation Park and emphasized that the park is poised to play a greater role in the integrated “industry-university-research-application” cooperation between China and Uganda.

■ Witnessing the Establishment of the China-Uganda Joint Laboratory for Tea Production
In the afternoon, the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) of Uganda and the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS) formally signed an MoU in Entebbe to establish the “China-Uganda Joint Laboratory for Sustainable and High-Quality Tea Production”. This milestone cooperation marks a pivotal step in modernizing and internationalizing Uganda’s tea industry. Prof. Deming Li and Mr. David L. Zhang were invited as honored witnesses to this signing ceremony.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Yona Baguma, Director General of NARO, and Ms. Yiyang Yang, Deputy Director of the Institute of Leisure Agriculture at JAAS and Chief Expert of the Tea Innovation Team. The lab will be based at NARO's Rwebitaba Research Institute, with technical support led by Ms. Yiyang Yang’s team. The lab will focus on tea variety improvement and green production methods, contributing to the upgrading of Uganda’s tea industry chain. Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja, Senior Presidential Advisor and former Minister of Defence, also attended the event and highly praised this landmark collaboration.

In the future, Green World International Group will continue leveraging its global resources and local presence to facilitate more practical cooperation projects, making further contributions to agricultural modernization of China and Uganda.
